Fees and Payments

30-minute lesson: $30

45-minute lesson: $45

1 Hour lesson: $60

Upon enrolling in SSVS, students (and their parents) commit to attending and paying for 35 lessons over the course of the school year. Payments take place at the beginning of each semester. If a student begins lessons partway through the school year, the semester tuition payment will be prorated. Refunds are not available for cancelled lessons. Makeup opportunities are usually available. See Studio Policies for more details.

Scheduling

All regularly scheduled lessons take place on weekdays before 6:30pm. More detailed information about cancellations and makeup lessons can be found under "Studio Policies."

Required Materials

Certain materials are required of every student to ensure success in violin lessons. Once you have enrolled your child, we will discuss the best ways to obtain these materials. Please see the list below:

Instrument and Accessories

1. Violin and bow of the appropriate size (please do not purchase an instrument before consulting with your teacher first)

2. Piano or digital keyboard (may not be necessary for older students or students with some prior experience)

3. Shoulder sponge or shoulder rest

4. Violin case

Instrument Maintenance

1. Rosin

2. Cleaning cloth

3. Protective cloth (may be included in the case)

Practice Materials

1. Music stand

2. Metronome (or app)

3. Tuner (or app)

​

Books

1. Elise Winters, Kaleidoscopes for Violin (appropriate level)

2. Shinichi Suzuki, Violin Method (appropriate level)

3. Joanne Martin, I Can Read Music (appropriate level) OR Kaleidoscopes: Lines and Spaces (appropriate level) - instructor will indicate which book to purchase

4. Access to Suzuki and Kaleidoscopes recordings (available on CD, Spotify, and Apple Music)

5. Advanced students will require additional music and technique books.
